Mushin' for Mutts 2015

Mushin' for Mutts 2015 will race on Saturday, March 7,
hosted by Skijor Kenora, as part of the Kenora Winter Carnival.
Race runs 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Classes for:
    • 4 km hilly skijor & kick sled timed classes with 1 or 2 dogs
    • 1 to 4 km fun run (untimed) for any age and agility, with 1 or 2 dogs, skijor & kick sled
Fee for each 1- or 2- dog team is $25 for the first class ($17 to It’s a Dog’s Life and $8 to Nordic Trails), payable in cash at the race.

Got lots of dogs? A musher can enter additional race classes or teams for $20.

This is a fun race, with proceeds going to It's a Dog's Life Fostering Network, as well as covering your trail pass for the day. $8 to the host for the trail pass and the rest to It's a Dog's Life.

Medals will be awarded for 1st to 3rd place for timed races. All racers and fun run teams will be entered into draws for donated prizes.
We are very lucky to be hosted by Kenora Nordic Trails Association and Mount Evergreen Ski Club.
The chalet is right beside the trail, and has washrooms and a licensed restaurant, making for an excellent venue.

Your entry fee allows you to do a fun lap over the same trail after the race with your dogs. The entry fee also allows you to use the extensive cross-country ski trail system for the day (sans chiens, however).

Bring the family and make a day of it, as there are downhill ski and snowboard rentals and reasonably-priced lift tickets available. More info on

    DRIVING DIRECTIONS from Winnipeg

A you approach Kenora, stay left on the bypass, Hwy 17A. After 15 to 20 minutes, turn right onto Airport Road, and then in less than 1 km, turn left onto Mt. Evergreen Rd. There are two parking lots, and some skidoo trails to walk the dogs on to pee. Registration at the base of the hill starting at 10:30. Races at 11:00. Fun run and victory laps after the races. Draws for prizes at the hill. Coffee and snacks available in the Chalet. Let's meet for a late lunch at our sponsor, Lake of the Woods Brewing Company. We can caravan there, or use a GPS.
