Your trainers

Snow Motion co-coordinators Susie Strachan and Lorne Volk have more than 30 years of experience in working with dogs and their handlers. We understand how your dogs think and how they will take to training.

Susie:

  • Founded Snow Motion in 1997.
  • Has trained over 2,000 people and their dogs in skijoring and kick sledding, along with bikejoring, scootering and canicross, including workshops in Winnipeg, Dauphin, Portage la Prairie, Brandon, Shilo, Neepawa, Sandilands, Shannondale, along with Kenora and Dryden in Ontario, along with Regina, Saskatchewan since 1996.
  • Raced Flyball dogs with the Can-Do Agility Team for  25 years.
  • Trained and participated in CKC and Australian Shepherd Club of Canada herding trials.
  • Trains and participates in the sport of Disc Dog.
  • Trains and trials obedience dogs to the Utility (OTCH) level.
  • Trained and participated in the sports of Agility, Dock Dog, Disc Dog, Tracking, Scent Hurdling, Treibball, Lure Coursing, Freestyle, Rally, Weight Pull and Sled Dog sprint racing.
  • Works in the field of communications and journalism.
  • Certified First Aider.
  • 35 year volunteer with the Winnipeg Folk Festival.




Lorne:

  • Has trained people and their dogs in skijoring and kick sledding since 2003, along with bikejoring, scootering and canicross, including workshops in Winnipeg, Sandilands and Shannondale.
  • Grew up on on a cattle ranch near Dauphin Manitoba and speaks fluent horse, cow, coyote, and bear.
  • Has a degrees in Biology and Education from the University of Saskatchewan and worked as a field Biologist for the University of Saskatchewan and Canadian Wildlife Service.
  • Has survived 32 years as a high school Biology and General Science teacher and still loves going to work every morning!.
