ABOUT SNOW MOTION
Snow Motion is the first Manitoba club for recreational ski-joring and kick sledding enthusiasts. Founded in the winter of 1998, the club has been running strong ever since. We celebrated our 10th anniversary in 2008.
We're a group of people in the Winnipeg area, who want to have fun outside in winter with our family pets by getting together for group runs. It's a great way to socialize and exercise our dogs, and we're great company for each other on the trails.
Snow Motion runs on Sunday mornings on trails in Winnipeg and area, and many members make friends they can run with during the week. Some of our favourites runs include the group use area 1 trail at Birds Hill Provincial Park, the La Salle River at La Barriere Park and the rivers which run through the centre of Winnipeg. We also try to do an out-of-town run several times a winter to a dog-friendly ski trail.
Some of our members are accumulating kilometres towards dog breed titles, and others are getting their pups in shape for our Snow Motion Classic race, to be held in February, 2011!
In the "off-season", the Snow Motion Wheel Dogs get together for scooter and bike runs with our dogs in harness. These modes of transportation allow us to continue to train our dogs when there's no snow on the ground, and it helps keep both human and dogs fit!
